Help & FAQ

How do I support BotC Tracker?

You can now support BotC Tracker using Ko-Fi, hit the “Support us on Ko-fi” button on the Account or Help (this!) page, or go to ko-fi.com/botctracker. We try to keep these buttons on the lesser used pages, to not get in the way of the main functionality.

How do I create an account?

Click on ‘register’ in the main menu. Here you will need to enter your email address, a link will be emailed to you from info@botc-tracker.com with a link to create your password. You can then login with the ‘login’ button from the menu.

How do I log a game?

After logging in, go to your dashboard and choose the option to log a new game. You can then enter the main details from your Blood on the Clocktower session, including the starting character, ending character, your alignment (and if it changed), if you made the “final 3”, and if you won! You do not need to record every possible detail for the tracker to be useful.

What information should I record for each game?

The most useful game records usually include the date, your starting character, your ending character, whether you alignment changed, whether you made the final 3, and whether you won. These details allow BotC Tracker to build useful statistics across your games. If something unusual happened, it is worth recording that too. Blood on the Clocktower can include character swaps, alignment changes, unusual deaths, and other effects that make a game memorable. Adding notes can make it easier to understand the result when you look back later.

Can I track both starting and ending characters?

Yes. Some Blood on the Clocktower games include character changes, especially when experimental characters or advanced scripts are used. Recording starting and ending characters can help preserve what actually happened in the game. This is useful because a player’s final character may not tell the full story. A player may begin as one character and later become another, or their alignment may change during the game.

How should I interpret win rates?

Win rates are a helpful guide, but they should not be treated as a complete measure of player skill or character strength. Blood on the Clocktower is a social deduction game, and each result depends on many factors: player count, script balance, Storyteller decisions, bluffs, information, nominations, and group meta. A high win rate does not always mean something is too strong, and a low win rate does not always mean something is weak. The numbers are most useful when they help you ask better questions about your games.

Why does sample size matter?

Small sample sizes can produce strange-looking statistics. If a character has only appeared in one or two logged games, its win rate may look extreme even though there is not enough data to draw a strong conclusion. Statistics become more useful as more games are recorded, so it is best to look for patterns across many sessions rather than judging a character, script, or player based on only a few results.

What are global stats?

Global stats are based on games recorded on BotC Tracker and are intended to show broad trends across the site. They can help users see which characters are commonly recorded, how often Good and Evil win, and how different characters appear to perform across logged games. These figures should be read as community data, not as official balance data. The results depend on which users record games, which scripts they play, and how accurately games are entered.

Why do my stats look different from the global stats?

Your personal or group stats may be very different from the global stats, and that is normal. Every Blood on the Clocktower group develops its own habits, favourite scripts, preferred bluffs, and social style. Global stats show a wider pattern across many logged games. Your own stats show what is happening in your specific play history. Both can be useful, but they answer different questions.

Can Storytellers use BotC Tracker?

Yes. Storytellers can use BotC Tracker to review their games, track script results, and look back at how different sessions played out. This can be useful for choosing future scripts, checking whether games feel balanced, and remembering which characters or setups created memorable moments. The tracker is not intended to replace Storyteller judgment. It is a tool for reflection, especially when a group has recorded enough games to reveal patterns over time.

Can I use BotC Tracker for online and in-person games?

Yes. BotC Tracker can be used for both online and in-person Blood on the Clocktower games. The format of the session does not matter as long as you have the game details you want to record. Some groups use the tracker after an in-person session, while others log games played through online voice chat or virtual tabletops. Keeping both types of games in one place can help you compare how your group plays across different formats.

Can I edit a game after saving it?

Yes. If you notice a mistake after saving a game, go to ‘view all games’ from your dashboard, there you will find edit and delete buttons for each recorded game. This is useful when a character was entered incorrectly, a player was missed, or you want to add more detail after the session.

Is there a way to export my data?

Yes. In the ‘view all games’ page from the dashboard you can download all of your game data as a .csv file. This gives you a copy of your records outside the site and lets you review or store your own data separately. Exporting your data can be useful if your group wants to keep a backup, analyse results in a spreadsheet, or preserve a long-running play history.

How is my data used?

Your game records are used to provide your personal statistics, game history, and related tracker features. Some information may also contribute to aggregated global statistics, which show broad trends across games recorded on the site. Global statistics are intended to show overall patterns rather than expose private notes or personal details from individual games. For more information, read the privacy policy.

How do I delete my account?

Click on ‘account’ in the main menu while signed in, then select ‘delete account’. Account deletion is permanent, so make sure you have exported any data you want to keep before continuing.

How do I change my password?

Click on ‘account’ in the main menu while signed in, enter a new password, and then select ‘change password’.

What are your privacy policies?

Our full privacy policy is linked in the footer of every page, and can also be viewed here.

Is BotC Tracker official?

No. BotC Tracker is an unofficial fan-made tool for people who enjoy Blood on the Clocktower. It is not an official product of The Pandemonium Institute. Blood on the Clocktower is created by The Pandemonium Institute. BotC Tracker is intended to support playgroups, game tracking, and statistical curiosity around the game.
